WESTERN PA AMBULANCE SERVICES TEAM UP FOR FIRST EVER MULTI-VEHICLE PHOTO SHOOT AT PITTSBURGH INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT
- National EMS Week 2010 Observed May 16 to May 22
PITTSBURGH, PA (May 17, 2010) — About 64 ambulances and two medical helicopters from a ten-county region of Western Pennsylvania assembled at Pittsburgh international Airport for a first ever multi vehicle photo shoot. The May 10th event was coordinated by the Emergency Medical Services Institute, Allegheny County EMS Council and the Allegheny County Airport Authority, as part of a unique way to recognize the variety and number of EMS services in our region.
Tom McElree , Director, EMSI , said, “I am pleased that so many of the services participated in this photograph. Our EMS providers are always there for their communities. EMS Week is a chance for us to thank them and to recognize this great profession.”
“We hope that EMS services will take this picture and post it to their web sites or use it in other EMS week promotions. People know when they call 911 they’ll get help, no matter what their circumstance. Anytime, anywhere, Emergency Medical Services will be there,” said Knox Walk, EMS Manager, Allegheny County.
The photo was taken by staff at the Airport Authority. “Pittsburgh International Airport provided a great backdrop for this impressive display. As part of keeping the airport safe for travelers, the Airport Authority depends on the mutual aid services of the region’s EMS providers. We are very happy that we could help make this picture happen!” stated Bradley D. Penrod, Executive Director/CEO, Allegheny County Airport Authority.
