American Airlines Begins Daily Nonstop Flight Between PIT and LAX

PITTSBURGH (Aug. 29, 2013) – American Airlines launched daily nonstop service between Pittsburgh International Airport (PIT) and Los Angeles International Airport (LAX) August 27 at 4:30 p.m.

“Increasing nonstop flights to the West Coast has been an important goal of my administration,” said Allegheny County Executive Rich Fitzgerald. “Improving West Coast access is vital to our businesses and will encourage more economic development. We look forward to continuing to work with American Airlines to expand its presence at Pittsburgh International Airport.”

“The Airport Authority is pleased to be a part of American’s expanded service to and from Los Angeles,” said Allegheny County Airport Authority Chairman David Minnotte. “This route will meet travelers’ needs to fly nonstop to Los Angeles, and from there, to connect conveniently to many destinations on the West Coast and internationally.” “American is excited to begin daily nonstop service between Pittsburgh and Los Angeles,” said Dale Morris, American’s Regional Vice President – Government Affairs “With this new service, American now flies between Pittsburgh and all five of our hubs – Chicago, Dallas/Fort Worth, Los Angeles, Miami and New York. The new LAX flight gives customers in the Pittsburgh area convenient access to Southern California and allows them to connect through this key international gateway to additional destinations throughout the American Airlines and oneworld® global network.”

American’s daily nonstop flight departs Pittsburgh at 4:30 p.m. and arrives in Los Angeles at 6:50 p.m. The return flight departs Los Angeles at 8:10 a.m. and arrives in Pittsburgh at 3:45 p.m. The flight will be operated by a Boeing 737 with 16 First Class seats and 134 Main Cabin seats.

American is significantly expanding service from LAX this year, further strengthening one of its key hubs and providing more access for customers across its growing global network. With this flight, American now offers 15 daily nonstop flights from Pittsburgh International Airport – seven to Chicago, four to Dallas/Fort Worth, two to Miami, one to Los Angeles and one to New York.
