  • FIVE AIRLINES REPORT INCREASES IN TRAFFIC
PITTSBURGH, PA (January 10, 2014) – Five airlines at Pittsburgh International Airport showed an increase in scheduled passenger traffic in November 2013 in comparison to last November according to the Pittsburgh International Airport Monthly Scheduled Airline Traffic Report.

Southwest Airlines reported an increase of 14.8 percent, due primarily to new Houston Hobby, new Nashville nonstop flights, and the merger with AirTran Airways. Other airlines that reported increases in traffic include United (1.5 percent), American (11.6 percent), Frontier (1.5 percent) and Air Canada (1.9 percent). Frontier operates flights on behalf of Apple Vacations and also permits bookings of flights to Punta Cana and Cancun through its website.

Meanwhile, the amount of departing scheduled seats for November 2013 increased 3.6 percent compared to November 2012, according to Diio, an aviation database system.

Scheduled passenger traffic at Pittsburgh International Airport decreased 5.2 percent in November 2013 compared to November 2012, as a total of 624,028 passengers traveled through the airport compared to 658,463 passengers that traveled in November 2012.

Year-to-date totals show scheduled traffic down 2.4 percent as 7,216,857 passengers have traveled at Pittsburgh International Airport through November 2013 compared to 7,396,641 through November 2012. United (2.4 percent); AirTran (3.8 percent); and American (5.9 percent) have shown increases in year-over-year scheduled traffic.
