PITTSBURGH INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT JANUARY 2010 SCHEDULED AIRLINE TRAFFIC REPORT
- Five airlines report increase in traffic
- AirTran and JetBlue show more than 30 percent gain in traffic
PITTSBURGH, PA (March 12, 2010) – AirTran Airways and JetBlue Airways each reported more than a 30 percent increase in passengers at Pittsburgh International Airport (www.FlyPittsburgh.com) in January 2010 compared to January 2009 according to the January 2010 Scheduled Airline Traffic Report, prepared by the Allegheny County Airport Authority.
A total of 545,243 scheduled passengers were enplaned and deplaned at the airport in January 2010, a 3.3 percent decrease compared to January 2009 (545,243 in January 2010/564,005 in January 2009; 3.3 percent decrease).
AirTran and JetBlue led a group of five airlines posted increases in January 2010. AirTran Airways reported a 30 percent increase this past January (67,779/52,147; 30.0 percent) while JetBlue showed a 33.6 percent gain (13,417/10,043; 33.6 percent). Other airlines that reported increases included Southwest (104,079/102,725; 1.3 percent), United (50,941/48,237; 5.6 percent) and Midwest (5,304/3,584; 48.0 percent). Air Canada (2,247/2,245; 0.1 percent) showed a negligible increase.
US Airways (147,207/176,173; 16.4 percent); Delta (52,814/64,601; 18.2 percent); Continental (34,928/35,685; 2.1 percent); Northwest (31,623/33,707; 6.2 percent), American (30,495/34,534; 11.7 percent); Myrtle Beach Direct Air (189/324; 41.7 percent) all showed a decrease in traffic.
SkyWest (4,220/0; 100 percent) began operations at Pittsburgh International Airport in December of 2009 and USA3000 (0/10,192; 100 percent) ceased operations the same month.
