PIT Choral Concert Program Announced

  • Local school choirs and orchestras to perform over 20 days in December
  • Classical pianist to perform throughout December

PITTSBURGH, PA (December 1, 2010) – The Sounds of Season will greet Holiday air travelers. The Annual Choral Concert Program at Pittsburgh International Airport starts on Wednesday, December 1 with a performance by CelloBrations at 10 a.m. followed by the West Allegheny High School Show Choir at 12:15 p.m.

The Airport Choral Concert Program, which is scheduled by volunteer Bianca Brown of Moon Township, features choirs and orchestras from many different local schools spread over 20 days.

Pittsburgh International Airport holiday decorations, which are made by local students, are on display on the Ticketing Level. Trees are decorated with ornaments made by students from Carnegie Elementary, Dutch Ridge Elementary, Hopewell Memorial Junior High, South Side Beaver Elementary, Burkett/Ingram Elementary, College Square Elementary and Osborne Elementary School.

Additionally for the third consecutive year, travelers at Pittsburgh International Airport will have the added pleasure of enjoying the sounds of Claudia Sanchez (

All performances will be on the Ticketing Level of the Landside Terminal.

Ms. Sanchez, who began performing at the airport this week, will play 21 dates at the airport through Dec. 30. Her playlist will vary each day ranging from American standards throughout the decades, to music from around the world and, of course, Holiday classics. Claudia will be playing during peak travel times of Monday and Friday mornings, Sunday afternoons and through the week before and after Christmas.

“We are thrilled to be able to bring Holiday music to travelers at Pittsburgh International Airport,” said JoAnn Jenny, Director of Communications, Allegheny County Airport Authority. “The music showcases the talent from our region and provides excellent customer service to our visitors and passengers.”
