PITTSBURGH INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT OCTOBER 2007 PASSENGER TRAFFIC REPORT

• Nine of 12 Airlines report increased traffic in October 2007
• Six airlines report increases of more than 20 percent

PITTSBURGH, PA (November 16, 2007) – Nine of 12 airlines at Pittsburgh International Airport (www.FlyPittsburgh.com) reported increases in traffic in October 2007 compared to October 2006. Six of those airlines (Southwest, Delta, AirTran, USA3000, Midwest, and Air Canada) reported increases of more than 20 percent. Despite the gains made by these carriers, overall traffic at the airport decreased by 4.7 percent in October 2007 compared to October 2006.

A total of 818,554 scheduled passengers were enplaned and deplaned at the airport in October 2007, which is a 4.7 percent decrease compared to October 2006, which had 858,827 scheduled passengers (818,554/858,827; 4.7 percent decrease). The gains realized by the majority of the carriers at the airport were offset by a 24.1 percent decrease in traffic by US Airways (319,207 passengers in October 2007/420,460 passengers in October 2006).

The six airlines reporting increases of more than 20 percent were:

• Southwest Airlines showed a 28.6 percent increase in passenger traffic, and gained the most overall passengers (127,418/99,076; 28.6 percent; 28,342 more passengers).
• Delta improved by 20.4 percent (89,970/74,737; 20.4 percent; 15,233 more passengers).
• AirTran had a 42.9 percent increase (36,972/25,874; 42.9 percent; 11,098 more passengers).
• USA3000 recorded a 21.1 percent increase (15,192/12,549; 21.1 percent; 2,643 more passengers).
• Midwest had a 28.3 percent increase (10,094/7,870; 28.3; 2,224 more passengers).
• Air Canada improved by 36.5 percent (4,328/3,170; 36.5; 1,158 more passengers).

“When six airlines continue to show such positive gains, it demonstrates that more origination passengers are taking advantage of more choices and better fares. As we head into the holiday travel season, we are seeing that other airlines are stepping in and filling our passengers’ travelling needs,” Bradley D. Penrod, Chief Executive Officer, Allegheny County Airport Authority.

Other airlines reporting gains were United (62,498/59,806; 4.5 percent), Continental (48,384/43,453; 11.3 percent) and JetBlue (21,758/21,395; 1.7 percent).

US Airways had the largest drop of three carriers. The Phoenix-based carrier’s 24.1 percent decrease in passengers, translates to a loss of more than 100,000 passengers (319,207/420,460; 24.1 percent decrease; 101,253 less passengers).

Northwest (41,151/50,303; 18.2 percent decrease) and American (39,144/40,134; 2.5 percent decrease) also reported fewer passengers.

Year-to-date scheduled passenger figures show traffic 0.3 behind last year’s pace (8,322,463/ 8,346,242; 0.3 percent decrease).
