JULY 2006 PASSENGER TRAFFIC AT PITTSBURGH INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT

PITTSBURGH, PA (September 8, 2006) – JetBlue Airlines got off to a flying start at Pittsburgh International Airport, cracking the airport’s top ten in number of passengers in its first full month of operation in Pittsburgh. The July 2006 Scheduled Airline Traffic Report for Pittsburgh International Airport shows JetBlue had 23,342 passengers for the month, making it the ninth busiest airline. This report is compiled monthly by the Allegheny County Airport Authority.

JetBlue began service in Pittsburgh on June 30, 2006 with daily direct flights, four to New York and two to Boston. Pittsburgh flyers can connect to more than 25 other cities on JetBlue.

“We are very pleased with JetBlue’s first month performance,” said Kent G. George, Executive Director of the Allegheny County Airport Authority. “JetBlue serves very important markets and it is apparent that our customers are taking advantage of the options that we are providing to them. We will continue to develop opportunities for all of the airlines at Pittsburgh International Airport and work to expand service for our customers.”

A total of 931,263 scheduled passengers traveled through the airport in July 2006 – which is an 8.6 decrease compared to July 2006 (931,263 in July 2006/ 1,019,364 in July 2005). Year-to-date scheduled airport traffic shows a 6.3 percent decrease (5,819,708/6,211,204).

Four airlines showed significant growth, led by Southwest. Southwest reported a 65 percent increase in passengers (115,470/69,983) while Continental showed a 49.3 percent gain (40,083/26,847). Midwest (9,438/5,650; 67 percent) and Air Canada (3,739/3,151; 18.7 percent) also reported increases in traffic.

Those gains helped offset the losses in passenger volume by US Airways (480,007/621,487; 22.8 percent), Delta (67,964/68,167; 0.3 percent), United (61,086/61,459; 0.6 percent), Northwest 44,404/47,673; 6.9 percent), American (38,417/41,397; 7.2 percent), AirTran (30,876/34,254; 9.9 percent) and USA3000 (16,437/21,351; 23 percent).
