JetBlue Airways Adds Fourth Daily Pittsburgh-Boston Non-Stop Flight

PITTSBURGH – Allegheny County Executive Rich Fitzgerald today announced that JetBlue Airways has added a fourth daily Pittsburgh-Boston non-stop flight at Pittsburgh International Airport.
“Today’s news means that flying from Pittsburgh to Boston is easier than ever. Boston is one of our region’s largest business markets and is also a popular destination for those traveling for leisure,” said Fitzgerald. “JetBlue has continued to build upon their base in Pittsburgh and has committed to offering additional flights. We look forward to continuing to see them expand at the Pittsburgh International Airport.”

The County Executive, along with business leaders and the staff and Board of the Allegheny County Airport Authority have made a strong case to the airline industry to provide more direct flights to and from the Pittsburgh International Airport. As part of that effort, the Authority conducted an economic impact study in 2011 of low cost carriers which demonstrated how lower fares from airlines such as JetBlue have a direct impact on increasing passenger numbers. In turn, those numbers result in a competitive route and enhance the economic activity of the Pittsburgh region through tourism, commerce and more jobs.

“The average fare from Pittsburgh to Boston has dropped by 51 percent and can certainly be credited to JetBlue Airways,” said Allegheny County Airport Authority Chairman David Minnotte. “We hope that Pittsburghers will help keep those fares competitive by considering JetBlue for their travel the next time they go to Boston.”

The fourth flight will begin on May 1, 2013. Flights can be booked now at
