A total of 678,506 scheduled passengers were enplaned and deplaned at the airport in February 2007, a 2.9% decrease compared to February 2006 (678,506 passengers in February 2007/698,507 passengers in February 2006; 2.9 percent decrease). US Airways & US Airways Express combined traffic was down 14.8% for the month (343,253/403,029), while all other scheduled carriers combined were up 13.5% (335,253/295,478). Air Canada reported a 19% increase (1,869/1,570) followed by AirTran’s 11.4% gain (24,117/21,652) and Delta’s 10.4% growth (56,094/50,804). Northwest (34,820/31,832; 9.4%) and Southwest (75,892/70,841; 7.1%) also reported increased passengers for the month. Year-to-date figures show that traffic figures almost a mirror image of last year’s first two months, as traffic for 2007 is 0.1 percent lower than 2006. "Airlines other than US Airways account for about 50 percent of the traffic at Pittsburgh International Airport" Allegheny County Airport Authority Executive Director Kent G. George said. "The numbers continue to reflect the shift to more passengers originating and ending their travel in Pittsburgh – a trend that has occurred since fares have become more competitive and US Airways has reduced its hub operations. As a result, area residents are able to enjoy inexpensive travel with many choices of carriers.” Other airline changes at Pittsburgh International Airport include:
