Business Travelers Rank PIT 7th Best Overall U.S. Airport

  • Ranked Number One Airport for Dining and Shopping
  • Conde Nast Traveler Magazine 13th Annual Business Travelers Award Poll

PITTSBURGH, PA (March 7, 2011) – Pittsburgh International Airport has been ranked the seventh best airport for business travel among U.S. airports in Conde Nast Traveler's 13th Annual Business Travel Awards poll. Pittsburgh leads in the category for best Shopping and Dining, thanks to the successful AIRMALL program.

This is the fifth year that Pittsburgh International Airport has been in the top ten and that the AIRMALL’s shopping and dining scores have been the highest scoring category. Pittsburgh also moved up three spots on the list. In 2009, Pittsburgh was ranked tenth.

"Serving our customers is a priority for us. It is an honor to be recognized among the Top 10 overall airports in the nation," Allegheny County Airport Authority Chairman Glenn R. Mahone said. "Our quality airport amenities and our excellent customer service greatly enhance the experience for business travelers."

“We are always seeking ways to improve meeting the needs of travelers. Our AIRMALL – with its variety, quality and the guaranteed street pricing policy – helps to keep Pittsburgh International Airport on top," said Bradley D. Penrod, Executive Director/CEO, Allegheny County Airport Authority.

The Conde Nast Traveler 2010 Business Travel Awards is based on rankings provided by the magazine's more than 25,900 readers who were identified as business travelers. Those readers were asked to rate hotel chains, airports and airlines in a variety of categories as excellent, very good, good, fair or poor. Categories included: location/access, ease of connections, baggage/customs, design, safety/security and food/shopping.
