ALLEGHENY COUNTY AIRPORT AUTHORITY CELEBRATES FINDLAY CONNECTOR COMMUNITY DAY BY HOSTING PAPER AIRPLANE CONTEST
FINDLAY TWP, PA (October 5, 2006) – On Saturday, October 7, 2006, the Allegheny County Airport Authority is participating in the Findlay Connector Community Day. As part of the festivities, the Airport Authority will be hosting a paper airplane contest at 11 am. This special contest offers local children an exciting opportunity to explore the world of flight and test their paper airplane building skills. The contest is free and open to all children. There will be prizes for all participants. “We hope the public will join in for this day of creativity, camaraderie, light-hearted competition and family fun. Let your imagination take to the air on paper wings!” said Kent G. George, Executive Director, Allegheny County Airport Authority. There will be two contests--one for the paper airplane with the longest time aloft and one for the paper airplane that travels the farthest distance. Prizes will be awarded to the winners of both contests in each group. Young people under the age of 18 are invited to participate. Contestants will be assigned to a group that coincides with their age. The three groups will be ages 6 and under, ages 7 through 11 and ages 12 through 18. Contestants can enter only one paper airplane per contest. Paper airplanes are to be made from one sheet of 8.5 x 11 paper prior to the event. Tape or glue is permitted on the paper airplane for adhesive purposes, but no other materials are allowed. To register for the contest, please call Samantha Stedford at 412-472-3648.
