AIRPORT AUTHORITY OPEN BENEFITING WINGS FOR CHILDREN RAISES $24,761

  • Event has raised more than $100,000 in six years

    PITTSBURGH, PA (September 8, 2006) - Once again the Allegheny County Airport Authority had a record-breaking year when it comes to golf! A total of 232 players teed off at the annual Airport Authority Open to Benefit Wings For Children and the result was astounding.

    After all the accounting was done, $24,761.08 was raised for Wings For Children mission flights. Wings For Children is a non-profit organization, which provides free medical airlifts to ambulatory children with life threatening and chronic illnesses requiring specialized treatment. It is based at Allegheny County Airport in West Mifflin.

    In six years, the event has raised more than $100,000 for Wings For Children.

    "Everyone had a great time," said Director of Communications JoAnn Jenny, whose department spearheads the event. "Funds were raised for a great cause. Special thanks to our great golfers who attend year after year and to all of our sponsors who generously step forward to help."

    "As always, this was an excellent event," said Mark Holewinski, President and Chief Executive Officer of Wings For Children. "In addition to raising much appreciated and needed money, the outing develops awareness of our organization."

    The response for sponsorships was impressive for yet another year and led by Management Engineering Corporation; Michael Baker Jr. Inc., Schnader Harrison Segal & Lewis; First Energy; CDM; SAI Consulting Engineers; Marsh USA; International Display Systems Inc.; Atlantic Aviation, BAA, USA; Bombardier and Grant-Oliver Corporation.
