Airport Authority Employee Receives Certificate of Appreciation by United States Marine Corps

AIRPORT AUTHORITY EMPLOYEE RECEIVES CERTIFICATE OF APPRECIATION BY UNITED STATES MARINE CORPS

PITTSBURGH, PA (September 8, 2006) - Allegheny County Airport Authority Operations Duty Manager Jim Minahan and the Airport Operations Department has been recognized for their continued support of the local military by the United States Marine Corps Military Police Company Bravo, North Versailles, Pa.

A recent change in US Department of Defense regulations requires the Marines to perform planeside honors for those killed in action. On several occasions Jim Minahan and the Operations Department at Pittsburgh International Airport have helped to ensure these honors have taken place in an efficient manner.

"Due to the professionalism, dedication, and cooperation of Airport Operations and the personal effort of Mr. Minahan, we were able to arrive, access, and conduct appropriate plane side honors for fallen Marines," said First Sergeant James Prokosch of Military Police Company Bravo. "They made it extremely easy for us. We are pleased to present this certificate of appreciation to Mr. Minahan and the Operations Department of Pittsburgh International Airport."

Under Minahan`s direction, Airport Operations met the delegation of Marines, who came to the airport to perform the honors, escorted them to the plane and help expedite the process of accessing the plane.

"Airport Operations duties are vast and vital to the airport`s success," said Allegheny County Airport Authority Chief Operating Officer Bradley D. Penrod. "The department and staff ensure the safety of the airfield and airport, and is the main facilitator in the coordination of an efficient airport. Jim`s performance and dedication is a fine example of the work Operations does on a daily basis."

Minahan, a Moon Township resident, has been working at Pittsburgh International Airport since 1992.
