ALLEGHENY COUNTY AIRPORT AUTHORITY FORMS ACADEMY FOR LEADERSHIP DEVELOPMENT OF MANAGEMENT STAFF
PITTSBURGH, PA (June 6, 2008) – The Allegheny County Airport Authority has made a comprehensive commitment to management staff development by forming an Academy within the organization to provide leadership training to directors, managers and supervisors.
Airport Authority management staff members have been completing a schedule of classes to improve their management skills since 2006. "Investing in our people is our best assurance that the Airport Authority will remain competitive in the face of present and future challenges,” stated Glenn R. Mahone, Chairman, Allegheny County Airport Authority.
“Now that a number of the classes are completed, many participants are realizing the commitment the Airport Authority is making to professional development of its staff members,” explained Bradley D. Penrod, Executive Director, Allegheny County Airport Authority.
“The benefit is two-fold. The individual gains important insight in to how to be a better manager, a skill that can benefit him or her in any workplace. And the Authority gains management staff with higher skill levels in supervision and leadership,” Penrod added.
Nearly 100 management staff personnel have completed courses in DiSC personality profiles, conflict management, building blocks for functional team management and leadership development.
“We expect that this education and training of our management team will take the Airport Authority to greater heights in the future,” stated Mahone.
