ALLEGHENY COUNTY AIRPORT AUTHORITY AWARDED FOR PROFESSIONAL EXCELLENCE IN GOVERNMENT FINANCIAL REPORTING
PITTSBURGH, PA (November 15, 2011) – The Allegheny County Airport Authority Finance Department received the Certificate of Achievement Excellence for its 2010 Comprehensive Annual Financial Report. The commendation comes from the Government Finance Officers Association, a nonprofit professional association serving government finance professionals from around the country.
In announcing the award, the Association stated that the 2010 Annual Report was judged by an impartial panel to meet the high standards of the program including demonstrating a constructive “spirit of full disclosure” to clearly communicate its financial story.
This award is the highest form of recognition for excellence in state and local government financial reporting. To achieve this award, a government must publish a well organized and easily readable comprehensive annual financial report. The report must also fulfill generally accepted accounting principles as well as applicable legal requirements.
“The Airport Authority is honored to accept this prestigious accolade. As the stewards for Pittsburgh International Airport and Allegheny County Airport, the finance department professionals strive for best-of-class practices. It is rewarding to see those efforts recognized,” said Glenn R. Mahone, Chairman, Allegheny County Airport Authority.
“I’m proud of what we can accomplish together and you each deserve recognition for your contribution to this success,” wrote Jim Gill in response to the award. He will be sharing this great news with the board at the next meeting in January.
