2005 – HIGHLIGHTS FOR ALLEGHENY COUNTY AIRPORT IN WEST MIFFLIN, PA
- The Airport Authority received environmental clearance from the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) to move forward on a hangar development project by converting Runway 5-23 to a taxiway. This change will open up a large area to build about nine large hangars there. There has been interest from fixed base operators (FBOs) and corporate and private aircraft owners.
- The Airport Authority has recently launched the Allegheny County Airport Master Plan update. This yearlong effort will lay out the course of development at Allegheny County Airport over the next 20 years.
- The 10-28 Runway Safety Project is progressing. The Broscius Mobile Home Park was acquired and 65 families have been successfully relocated. Completion of the project which includes grading and filling is expected in 2006.
